Tonight the UK decides who will be flying the flag in Portugal in the hopes of bringing home a victory, and I have to say this year there are 6 pretty strong contenders, all with the ability to (Hopefully!) get us onto the left side of the leader board (because we all know that is a win for us!!). Today I thought I would rank my top 6.
6: Jaz Ellington – You
This song gives me jazzy vibes, and is very calming. Jaz’s voice is amazing, but I can’t see this song getting us higher than 20th place, as we’ve tried slower songs before and they just tend to get left behind in the race for first place.
However, with a slight revamp, and memorable staging, this song has the ability to do well if it is picked, however it’s just not my personal choice.
5: Goldstone – I Feel the Love
This song gives me Little Mix vibes, with a slight OG3NE feel (The Netherlands 2017). The song is a very generic pop song, with really good vocals, their voices blend amazingly together, however again, this would be probably be another forgettable song in Portugal.
This is a song fit more for the radio, rather than a huge arena with millions watching.
4: Liam Tamne – Astronaut
First of all, Liam’s voice is WOW. With a revamp this song has the potential to do well, as its good right now, but with amazing staging this would be AMAZING.
This is one of the songs I have been listening to a lot since the songs were released, and it gives me such a good feeling!
3: SuRie – Storm
First off, SuRies voice is powerful AF! This song, with really good staging would have the ability to capture Europe’s heart in May.
I’m going to be honest, at first, I wasn’t a fan, but I listened to it again, and it grew on me so much, and gives me chills, just like Lucie Jones gave me last year. Would be so happy if it won!
2: RAYA – Crazy
This is one of the songs I’ve had on repeat 24/7! Co-written by Greta Salome, RAYA’s voice is perfect for this song, and is the catchiest out of the 6.
If picked to go to Portugal, I can see a shadowy staging, with dancers wearing white, which would be very memorable, and hopefully get us points!!
1: Asanda – Legends
The top spot HAS to go to Asanda, only 16 years old and with a PHENOMINAL voice!
The modern vibe is definitely the theme for this year, especially with the Czech Republic’s song Lie to Me (Mikolas Josef) being so modern, this is the perfect song for us. Its memorable, its catchy, it’s the perfect song for dancing to, wat more could you want from a Eurovision song! If picked I can see this doing so well!!!
Well UK, it’s in our hands, these are my top 6, but I wonder which song we will be taking to Portugal!! GOOD LUCK!!
