Get to know Richard and Joe (MESC)

Richard Micallef, Eurovision 2014 veteran is back at MESC in 2018 hoping to go to Eurovision again! But this time Richard wants to go with his father Joe! With the track, "Song For Dad" Richard and Joe will compete with 15 other entries on February 3rd. But Richard and Joe believe the special father/son bond they share will connect with viewer’s hearts at home and win them a ticket to Lisbon in May!

Richard tell the readers what does ‘Song For Dad’ mean to you?

"Song for dad" is a song about my relationship with my dad but it can relate to a lot of people. It practically relates to every parent and kids relationship.

Tell us Richard why do you want to go to Eurovision?

Why wouldn't you want to go to Eurovision? I’ve had the pleasure of being in that position and it's one of the best experiences of my life. It's a great honor to represent your country on the best platform in Europe.

Richard do you believe you and your father Joe can win MESC?

I believe that anyone of the finalist has a chance to win the competition. Each song has something different to offer and it all depends on who the judges and public pick on the night.

What is your favourite Eurovision entry of all time Richard?

I would have to say Waterloo from Abba, I also have great respect for the success they had after the Eurovision Song Contest.

Do you believe that you and Joe can win the Eurovision Song Contest??

Again I would have to answer in the same way I answered in question 3. The fact is that any finalist would have a chance to win the ESC, it all depends on which song the judges and public pick on night.

Do you have any pre show superstitions you do before you perform?

Don't really have any pre show superstitions but I do like to say a little prayer and thank god for giving me this great opportunity.

All of the finalist

What is your favourite lyric from “Song for Dad”?

If you need me come knock on my door.

Can you reveal any secrets about your staging is there anything special planned?

Nothing is top secret with us, we're gonna try create a warm and friendly atmosphere on stage and hope to touch the hearts of the public with a familiar feeling.

If you weren’t a singer what do you think you would be doing?

We both know that if we didn't sing we would both still would be doing something musical. We both play the guitar so we would probably focus more on that. Or... We maybe would be working in a recording studio or something like that...still in the entertainment trade.

Which country do you think will win the ESC this year?

If I knew that I most probably would not tell anyone and take a bet with all the money I got.

If you could duet with a famous singer dead or alive who would it be?

Well I'm lucky enough to be doing that this year at the MESC with my Dad.

If you win ESC what would be the first thing you will do?
