Matthew Anthony, a 19 year singer and dancer will take part in the national selection of Malta, Malta Eurovision Song Contest, with the song ‘Call 2morrow’.

Matthew will take to the stage in Valletta competing against fifteen other entries but he believes that his song and its message will get Malta voting!

We extended an invitation to Matthew to be interviewed an invitation which he kindly accepted! Below is the interview!!

What do you believe the message of your song is Matthew?

“In my opinion this song has a very relatable meaning. It is about wanting to contact someone from a past relationship but not doing so as the other person does not feel the same way, but still having some hope that you might call 2morrow!”

When asked why he wants to do Eurovision, Matthew simply replied,

“I am a big fan of Eurovision and it has always been my dream to be a part of Eurovision! Plus its also a very big platform! Especially in Malta”

Proving that he’s not short-sighted about this journey, he knows he’s going to have a bright future in Malta’s Eurovision scene regardless of a win or a loss!

But does Matthew believe he can beat off the other 15 competitors in Malta to take his song all the way to Lisbon?

Matthew diplomatically responded,

“I believe that I can offer something different to MESC, being a dancer and with my different syle of voice. If I win MESC or not is not in my hands but what is in my control are those three minutes o stage and I want to give my best performance”

Matthews favourite ESC entries?

“It would be between ‘Wild Dances’ Ukraine 2004 and ‘Undo’ Sweden 2014”

Does Matthew believe he can win ESC?

“Im still trying to get used to the fact that I’m a finalist in MESC hahaha, let alone winning ESC!... But I guess who knows!?

Does Matthew have any pre performance superstitions?

“No not really, I just want to be fully prepared!”

Who does Matthew believe is his biggest competition in MESC?

“I am not looking at the other artist as competition, but as artists fighting for the same goal. I think we all offer something different and unique!”

What is Matthew favourite lyric from ‘Call 2morrow’?

“’I don’t wanna let this feeling go’ I’m pretty sure I won’t be wanting to let go of those three minutes on stage!”

Can he reveal any secrets about his staging for his performance?

“Well keep in mind that I’m a dancer too…. And I won’t be alone ;)

If Matthew wasn’t a singer what would he be doing?

“Producing Music”

Which country does Matthew think will win ESC this year?

“It’s way too early to know, not all songs have been chosen, but I’m always eager for Sweden’s acts!”

If Matthew could duet with anyone dead or alive who would it be?

“Nicki Minaj or James Arthur”

If Matthew were to win ESC what would be the first thing he would do?

“Probably faint or cry or both!!! HAHA”
