After weeks of gruelling elliminations, sing offs and drama, the Spanish national selection for Eurovision, Opertacion Triunfo has just staged its Eurovision gala and lovebirds Amaia and Alfred have won with their beautiful love song “Tu Cancion

Right from the start these two were the frontrunners to go to Lisbon, and now their dreams have come true! The beauty, elegance, class and purity of the performance won over the Spanish veiwers who are notoriously known for loving screaming ballads or euro-pop dance tracks sung by female vocalists. This win comes as a new direction for Spain.

The atmosphere Amaia and Alfred were able to create throughout the performance was spellbinding! Making it to the superfinal easily and winning the whole thing quite easily as well, with only some slight competition from the fiery diva Aitana who in her own right brought it to the stage! We hope to see her represent Spain in 2019!

But for now we are over the moon that one of our favourite acts won the selection and is going to Portugal in May!

One thing they will need to look out for is staging and styling, we do think Amaia did look like an 80’s business woman with the suit and the colour made her look pale and drawn. Put her in a blue dress with her hair curled! Also perhaps if they both sit at the one piano for the performance and not two separate ones it would be great!

This entry is pure intimacy and tender young love which is sure to win over voters with their raw and emotional piece!

Overall a great result for Spain after last year!

Spain was represented by Manel Navarro in Kyiv last year, with the song “Do It For Your Lover” which won their national selection in a dramatic and somewhat shifty way. He went to Kyiv under a cloud of hate and unfortunately for Manel he suffered a vocal crack during his performance, which did not help his scoring eventually placing 26th in the final otherwise known as last behind Germany and 24 other countries!

Watch his performance below!!
