The much-hyped third semi-final of Melodifestivalen has taken place and Sweden has rocked Eurofans to the core. This semi final was being hyped as Melfest debutant Dotter’s walk into the final.

But in a bombshell result Dotter crashed out in the semi final not even making Andra Chansen. Dotter and her entry “Cry” only placed above fellow Melfest newcomer Barbi Escobar who placed last in the semi with her song “Stark” which in itself surprised many fans in itself.

Above the two non-qualified entries and the two Andra Chansen hopefuls, Mendez; who with some very questionable live vocals… made a very interesting and eye-catching stage show, made the second chance round with his entry “Everyday”. While his Andra Chansen counterpart is Moncho “Cuba Libre” the true underdog of this semi-final many fans including us had written Moncho off in favour for the fan favourites Dotter or Mendez, snuck into the final Andra Chansen spot knocking out nostalgic entry “Min Drom” from Kalle Moraeus & Orsa Spelman who were relegated to 5th place in the semi.
The semi-final was won by Jessica Andersson and Martin Almgren who both owned the show on the night!
Martin Almgren a former Swedish Idol winner, opened the night with his entry “A Bitter Lullaby” his soulful track caught the attention of the Swedish public, who voted for him to join fellow Swedish Idol winner, Liamoo, in the final. Martin who went under the radar in the lead up to the live show. Watch his performance below!

Jessica Andersson, a Melodifestivalen staple has returned to the final after battling through Andra Chansen in her last attempt. Jessica has qualified direkt this time! Her song “Party Voice” is being hailed as the return of schlager to Melodifestivalen! We can belive that Jessica did take out the semi tonight, but that is only speculation. Her song has currently lifted her to third place in the bookies odds, the song itself is very Carola and Charlotte Perreli-esque in its format but has been updated with an extremely modern track.
